About Grey Engineering

About Grey Engineering.

Around 1966 Ron Grey developed a one man sawing system for the sawmilling industry. Affectionately known as the Grey Bench, it allowed one single operator to produce large quantities of sawn timber in a safe and secure environment, as opposed to the conventional and very dangerous four man saw benches in use at that time.

In the following years, over 300 of these machines have been manufactured along with various other machines, including complete sawmills, most of which are still in operation today. A large inventory of spare parts has been assembled over the years to service these machines and are currently being shipped out on a daily basis to our many customers.

Please view our spare parts catalogue and brochures of some of the accessories that are available. Of special interest could be our range of pneumatic valves and cylinders. These have been designed especially for the timber industry but will suit many other applications. A repair service for Air Clutches and Air Sizing Cylinders is also available.

Robert is the son of the famous Ron Grey who single-handedly invented the Nationally acclaimed Grey Sawbenches.

Above a photo of Ron Grey (aged 81 yrs), the founder of Grey Engineering. Until recently Ron has worked tirelessly throughout his life. Due to ill-health, Ron has decided that it is now time to hand the reins over to his son, Robert.

Robert has worked his entire life with Ron, not only in the Engineering works but initially in the hands-on area of Ron's Sawmill. This from-the-ground-up knowledge has given Robert a thorough understanding of, not only the Sawmill Industry, but all Grey Engineering machinery.

Robert can help you to either:

* locate Used Grey Benches and bring these back to "As-New" condition

* overhaul your existing Grey Bench to bring it back to "As-New" condition

* build you a Brand new Grey Bench to your specifications
