Auto oiler why is it necessary

The auto oiler on your Grey sawbench lubricates the hob slide bars, square drive bar and the nib,bearing,sprocket. When lubricated properly these items allow the drive hob to slide back and forward many times a day. These parts can be lubricated by the pressurisation button on the oil tank manually. On a busy shift when the operator is focussed on production it is often neglected. The beauty of an auto oiler is that every time the drive hob comes in the auto oiler delivers a small amount of oil to the hob slide bars and the square drive bar I have had a few calls over the years about problems with the Grey not cutting straight timber. One of the reasons was that the square drive bar was dry and not allowing it to slide through the nib, bearing, sprocket freely this caused the hob to not ride around the flitch and forced the sizing guage back.
